black and white revisited Tuesday, August 6

The New Black & White

I am a huge fan of the modern black and white but for this fall I am really loving a new twist from Free People collection. White on white is so edgy by adding the stacked metal and black industrial shoe. The styling is clean, the small details and accessories is what kicks it up. Black leather with a simple white t. a striped cardi, and Boheme inspired sweater are subtle but make a style statement. How are you wearing black and white? Look for 1 or 2 pieces to add into your fall wardrobe.

Details Details - free people belt 3 ways Monday, July 8

One belt 3 ways
When looking for accessories, remember to shop smart. This doesn't necessarily mean cheap, it means find something versatile that can be worn many ways and adds "detail" to your wardrobe. The finishing touches change the entire look of your style, which is why accessories are my thing! Today I chose this brown Free People belt (purchase through polyvore link). I styled it 3 ways for you to see how the belt adds a finished and fashionable layer. You don't need 5 belts, just one "right" belt and you are set. You could style this with a skirt and tank or even jeans, I just wanted to show you how easy this is to wear with 3 different types of dresses. 5 minute style!

One Sweater 4 Ways

One of the most important rules when adding to your wardrobe is to look for "statement" pieces to build around. I know I always talk about finding the "perfect jacket," but this rule also applies to almost everything in your closet. Today we are talking Cardigans. Find a cardigan with length, something that covers your butt and brings versatility for your bottom options, like leggings, dresses, and skirts. Look for fun detailing and multi color, so you can play off of those colors when styling. I loved the colors in this Ralph Lauren draped cardigan sold on Stylebop. Use the colors and pair it up, going casual to dressy depending on your mood!

One Denim Shirt Monday, October 1

One Denim ShirtDenim is huge this fall and I have some great ways to wear it!  This first style board, has some amazing finds with no budget in mind. Remember, sometimes it's best to splurge on "one" piece you will wear over and over and then go less expensive on the staples to pair it with, like in the second style board where each piece is under $50.

Madewell vintage shirt / Free People denim jacket / Maison Scotch / Free People / AllSaints sequin skirt / Bardot lace shorts, $83 / Nolita , $365 / Osborn lace up booties / Rebecca Minkoff clutch handbag / Sakdidet Road feather jewelry, $49 / Balmain , $600

The New Collar Wednesday, September 19

The New CollarI absolutely love the fact we are recreating the "choker" into jeweled peter pan collars. I was able to find a lovely vintage collar from a local antique mall which instantly inspired me to create something of my own.  I have many ideas of what I want to design this fall, especially for my littles!  For some reason anything that is mini is so much cuter!

This is the collar I designed for my daughter.  Her school uniform needed some sprucing up and so I added some lace, fabric, and beading from an old vintage necklace. I also designed the neck piece below as my version of the choker or head piece.
